Breaking News!!! Jubilant Sykes,Grammy - Nominated Opera Singer Stabbed to Death

Jubilant Sykes, the 71-year-old Grammy-nominated opera singer, was found stabbed to death in his home in Santa Monica, California late Monday night.

Police responded to a 911 call from his wife around 9:20 p.m., entering the residence in the 1700 block of Delaware Avenue, where they discovered Sykes with fatal injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities arrested his son, 31-year-old Micah Sykes, who was found inside the home and taken into custody without incident. He has been booked on suspicion of homicide.

Police described the incident as a suspected isolated domestic matter; the motive remains under investigation and the case has been referred to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office for possible charges.

Sykes had an illustrious career spanning opera, classical, gospel, jazz and spirituals, performing at venues including Carnegie Hall, Metropolitan Opera, Hollywood Bowl, London's Barbican Centre, and more.

The tragedy has stunned the Santa Monica community, the global music world and the many friends, fans and colleagues of Sykes, who was widely admired not only for his powerful voice, but also for his warmth and dedication to music.
