British rapper Ghetts, legally known as Justin Clarke-Samuel, has pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision in east London. The incident occurred on 18 October 2025 on Redbridge Lane East in Ilford, where 20-year-old Yubin Tamang was struck by a black BMW linked to the artist. Tamang was taken to hospital with critical injuries but died two days later.

Police initially charged the rapper with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, but the charge was upgraded after the victim’s death. Prosecutors also brought additional counts of dangerous driving, alleging that Ghetts drove recklessly both before and after the impact.
On 8 December 2025, during a hearing at the Old Bailey where he appeared via video link from custody Ghetts formally admitted to causing death by dangerous driving and to the related dangerous driving offences committed that same night.
His guilty plea confirms responsibility for the sequence of driving behaviours that led to the fatal outcome.
Causing death by dangerous driving is among the most serious motoring offences under UK law, carrying the possibility of a lengthy prison sentence.
The court will review all aggravating and mitigating factors, including the circumstances of the collision and the additional driving offences, before handing down punishment.
The victim, Yubin Tamang, was a young student who had recently moved to the UK, and his death has been described as a devastating loss to his family.
The case has drawn significant public and media attention due to both the tragic nature of the incident and Ghetts’ prominence in the UK music scene, where he is respected for his lyrical influence and acting work, including a role in the Netflix series Supacell.
Ghetts remains in custody as he awaits sentencing, which has been scheduled for February 2026. Authorities have stated that further updates will be provided as the court prepares to determine the final outcome of the case.
