BAFTA-winning actor Micheal Ward, best known for his breakout roles in Top Boy and Blue Story, is facing serious legal charges in the United Kingdom.
The Metropolitan Police have confirmed that the 27-year-old actor has been charged with two counts of rape, two counts of assault by penetration, and one count of sexual assault.
The alleged incident is said to have involved one woman and reportedly took place in January 2023. Ward, originally from Cheshunt,
Hertfordshire, is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on August 28, 2025.

In a statement through his legal team, Ward has denied all allegations, insisting he is “confident he will be cleared” once the legal process runs its course.
The actor, whose career skyrocketed following his BAFTA Rising Star Award win in 2020, has not yet publicly commented beyond this statement.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has stressed the need for a fair trial and has urged both the media and the public to avoid commentary that could influence proceedings or retraumatise those involved. This reminder highlights the sensitivity of the case, as public speculation—especially on social media—can have real consequences for the judicial process.
Micheal Ward’s career has been on a steep rise, with his critically acclaimed performances in Top Boy and Blue Story, as well as appearances in Empire of Light and other major projects. These charges come at a critical point in his career and could have significant implications depending on the outcome of the trial.
At this stage, it is important to remember that Ward has not been found guilty of any crime, and under UK law, he is presumed innocent until proven otherwise.
