President Donald Trump’s Controversial Social Media Post After Rob Reiner’s Death

In the wake of the shocking deaths of acclaimed filmmaker and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, President Donald Trump took to social media with a post that has drawn widespread criticism. The Reiners were found dead in their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on December 14, 2025, in what authorities are treating as an apparent homicide. Both had suffered stab wounds, and their son Nick Reiner has been arrested and booked on suspicion of murder and is being held on $4 million bail, according to law enforcement and multiple outlets.

Instead of offering condolences in the immediate aftermath, Trump’s post reacted to Reiner’s death by blaming the late director’s political views, writing on his social platform:

“A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood,” Trump wrote.

“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind-crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.”

He continued:

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump…”

Trump’s comments immediately sparked backlash from critics who argued the remarks were insensitive and inflammatory, coming amid a family tragedy still under active investigation. Many observers noted that there is no evidence of any connection between Reiner’s political activism and the circumstances of his death, which police are investigating independently of political context.
