In contemporary red-carpet fashion, few partnerships feel as intentional, imaginative, and narratively rich as that of Cynthia Erivo and her longtime stylist, Jason Bolden.

Their collaboration has always produced powerful fashion moments, but the synergy has reached an extraordinary height during Erivo’s Wicked era. Together, they have created a visual language that blends theatricality, cultural homage, and couture craftsmanship, transforming every carpet into a stage.

Erivo’s role as Elphaba in the film adaptation of Wicked has provided fertile creative ground for the duo. This thematic influence is not approached literally but woven subtly into colors, silhouettes, and mood.

What sets the Erivo–Bolden partnership apart is its commitment to storytelling. Bolden does not simply select beautiful gowns.

He curates narratives, weaving in Erivo’s identity, her roles, her cultural roots, and her physicality. Erivo’s statuesque posture, athletic frame, and fearless presence make her an ideal canvas for bolder, more experimental silhouettes. Bolden amplifies these qualities, elevating her into a symbol of artistic force and visual storytelling.
HERE ARE SOME OF OUR FAVORITE LOOKS.
Premiere Look: Custom Balenciaga
For the New York City premiere, she wore a custom black Balenciaga gown by Pierpaolo Piccioli.
The gown featured a dramatic feather-trimmed turtleneck cape, a pleated drop-waist skirt that built into a train, and long sleeves that merged into gloves giving it sculptural drama and a dark, witchy elegance.

Grey Jacket + Micro-Shorts Look
For an appearance on The View, Erivo wore a grey, jacket-style minidress layered over matching micro-shorts.

Underneath, she wore sheer black tights from Saint Sass, a Berlin label.
The tights were embroidered with the phrase, “Mom, I am a rich man,” a bold, playful detail.
She completed the look with glossy midnight-blue knee-high platform boots and a matching blue handbag.
This outfit shows Bolden’s skill in merging structure and edge ,the tailored jacket with the audacious shorts and platform boots creates an unexpected but cohesive statement.

According to her suiting moments over two days in New York, Erivo wore three very different tailored looks.
One was a relaxed, menswear-inspired co-ord: high-waisted trousers and a hybrid bomber-blazer with a loosely tied tie.

Another version was a jacket-minidress (lapel-free, two-button) worn over micro-shorts the collar popped, giving the silhouette structure and elegance.

These tailored looks reflect both bold fashion thinking and day-to-day versatility a reminder that Erivo’s style under Bolden is not just for red carpet
