Cyberbullying!!! A Paris court has found 10 people guilty of cyberbullying France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found 10 people guilty of cyberbullying France’s first lady, Brigitte Macron, after they spread false, degrading online claims about her gender and personal life, including the widely debunked claim that she was born a man. The defendants, eight men and two women, received a mix of suspended prison sentences, cyberbullying awareness training, fines and temporary social media bans. The court described the comments as insulting, malicious and harmful.

The case stemmed from years of conspiracy theories amplified online, and the conviction is seen as part of a broader effort by the Macrons to combat online harassment and misinformation. Brigitte Macron said the legal action is meant to set an example in the fight against cyberbullying.

Meanwhile in the U.S., President Emmanuel Macron and Brigitte Macron have filed a defamation lawsuit against right-wing commentator Candace Owens, accusing her of promoting similar false claims on podcasts and social media. Owens has responded defiantly, saying she will contest the case in court. The U.S. lawsuit is pending and poses a separate legal battle over alleged misinformation and reputational harm.
