The international fashion and film industries have been plunged into mourning following the sudden, tragic loss of Mathilde Favier, the long-standing Public Relations Director for Christian Dior Couture and Producer, Nicolas Altmayer. Favier, 57, and her partner, 61-year-old French film producer Nicolas Altmayer, were killed in a head-on collision in western France on Monday, August 17.

Favier, widely regarded as one of the most warm, well-connected, and revered figures in global public relations, served as the liaison between Haute Couture and international celebrity culture. Over her 15-year tenure at Dior, she managed high-profile relationships with brand ambassadors including Natalie Portman, Rihanna, Jennifer Lawrence, and others .

Leaders across the LVMH portfolio and creative industries shared emotional tributes following the news.

Delphine Arnault, Chairman and CEO of Christian Dior Couture, said of the deceased,

"Mathilde loved life with a passion. With the passing of Mathilde, Dior is losing an incredible professional, and I have lost a loyal friend. Her optimism and courage commanded admiration. We will sorely miss her smile and her talent. My thoughts are very much with her children, her mother, her sisters, her family, her many friends, and the team she loved so much."

Bernard Arnault, Chairman and CEO of LVMH also

expressed deep sadness over the sudden loss of an executive who"devoted so many years to putting her passion, energy, and talent at the service of the House of Dior."

Favier began her career in the 1980s in fashion journalism, writing for publications such as Glamour and Femina, before making a defining transition into luxury communications. She was instrumental in establishing Prada’s French press department before joining Christian Dior Couture in 2011.

Apart from her corporate impact, Favier was a celebrated author. Earlier in her career, she published Living Beautifully in Paris (Mathilde à Paris), a love letter to French art de vivre and culture. Her sister, Victoire de Castellane, continues her work as the Creative Director of Fine Jewelry for Dior.

Her partner, Nicolas Altmayer, was equally prominent in French cinema. He was the co-founder of Mandarin & Compagnie alongside his brother Éric Altmayer. He produced over 70 feature films including the critically acclaimed OSS 117 franchise and Brice de Nice which earned him the prestigious César Award for Producer of the Year in 2017.

This huge loss marks a deeply solemn moment for both the French film industry and the house of Dior.
