England are through to the World Cup quarter-finals

England are through to the World Cup quarter-finals after edging Mexico 3–2 in a dramatic Round of 16 clash.

The victory was hard-earned from start to finish. England arrived at the match after reports that Mexican fans had gathered outside the team's hotel overnight, setting off fireworks and blasting loud music in an apparent attempt to disrupt the players' rest before kick-off.

The drama continued on the pitch. Despite having lasers pointed at him during the match, Jude Bellingham rose above the distractions to score twice in the first half and put England in control. The challenge grew even greater when Jarell Quansah was sent off following a dangerous tackle, leaving England to see out the game with 10 men.

With a nervy 11 minutes of added time, Mexico mounted relentless pressure, but England held their nerve. Harry Kane delivered the decisive goal as the Three Lions secured a tense 3–2 victory, overcoming the pressure, the drama and the adversity to book a quarter-final showdown with Norway.
