Bestselling Nigerian-American author Tomi Adeyemi has publicly distanced herself from the upcoming film adaptation of her acclaimed fantasy novel, Children of Blood and Bone, revealing that she will neither promote nor watch the movie.

In a series of emotional posts shared with fans, Adeyemi explained that there was "a reason" she had stopped speaking about the adaptation but initially chose not to elaborate.
"There is a reason I will not post anything about the adaptation of my work. That's all."
She went on to encourage readers who wished to support her to instead purchase copies of her Legacy of Orïsha trilogy from independent bookstores.

In another post, the author disclosed that she has not watched the film and has no intention of doing so.
"I have not seen the film, and I will not watch it."
Adeyemi admitted that remaining silent had been difficult, writing:
"It's been painful holding this back from you all... I'm sorry if any of you thought I didn't care. I will always care about us more than any glitter."
She also shared what appeared to be a screenshot of a message she sent to actress Amandla Stenberg, in which she wrote:
"Do not ever use my name in an interview or video again. Do not text me. Do not call me."
The screenshot indicates that the contact was subsequently blocked.

Although Adeyemi has made it clear that her decision stems from what she describes as painful behind-the-scenes experiences, she has not publicly disclosed the specific events that led to her distancing herself from the production.
Earlier, she said she had been "hurt and attacked behind the scenes," but stopped short of naming those involved or detailing what occurred.
The highly anticipated adaptation of Children of Blood and Bone, directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, boasts an all-star cast including Thuso Mbedu, Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Idris Elba, Cynthia Erivo, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Lashana Lynch.

Despite her decision to separate herself from the project, Adeyemi has not called for a boycott of the film. Instead, she has asked readers who want to support her to continue supporting her books directly.

For now, the full story behind the author's decision remains known only to those involved, leaving fans with more questions than answers.
